So You Wanna Be an Outfielder...
Or you're at least thinking about it! Here is some basic information about our league.
If you have any questions that aren't answered here, don't hesitate to contact us.
When do you play?
The Sydney Outfielders Softball League runs from October to March. Games are
Tuesdays at 6:30pm, and games are seven innings long, or until 8:00pm.
Where do you play?
We play at Moore Park in Sydney, on the Robertson Road fields. Roadside parking is available on Robertson Road, and the fields are accessible by the 338, 372, 274, 376, 391, 391, and M50 buses at the Anzac Parade and Lang Road stop, just past the Entertainment Quarter.
What does it cost to play?
Players are allowed one free game, and afterwards the cost for the entire season is $80. Half-price concession memberships are available for fulltime students and players who are 25 years of age or younger by the start of the sesason. Please note that all players must fill out the registration form before they can play, including casual players and new players looking to try out slow-pitch softball.
I've never played before. Is that okay?
There is no level of skill required to play in the Sydney Outfielders. The only requirements are that you play in a sportsmanlike manner and have fun! Before playing, it may be helpful to have a look at the rules, but we will also be happy to fill you in on the day.
What do I need to bring?
Bring a softball or baseball mitt if you have one, but it's no problem if you don't - we have a few spares around, and it's common for players to borrow one from the other team. The league provides bats and helmets, and when you join a team, your captain will let you know what to wear as part of the team uniform.
What if I don't have a team to join?
This is one of the great things about the Sydney Outfielders - meeting new friends! If you would like to play, but don't have a particular team in mind that you would like to join, we will gladly place you on a team. Alternatively, if there is a specific team you would like to play form, you can indicate that on your registration form.
Can my friend and I play on the same team?
When you register, you can specify if there are certain people you would like to play with, and we will do our best to find a team you can play on together. If there are enough of you that would like to play together, you can start your own team!
What if I work up a thirst?
You can join us for post-game drinks next door at the Entertainment Quarter.
