Our June Drag Bingo brought the community together at Universal — and provided the stage for an announcement about the future of Outfielders softball.
On Sunday 21 June 2026, Outfielders and friends gathered at Universal for Drag Bingo with Coco Jumbo. Bingo, prizes, performances and raffles filled the afternoon, bringing people together beyond their usual teams and Tuesday-night games.
The Outfielders Insider sent after the event reported that more than 85% of attendees came from outside the current membership. It was an opportunity to introduce the Association to new people while enjoying a Pride Month afternoon together.
A partnership announced in person
The event also marked the announcement of our affiliation with Softball NSW, with Jess Morley joining us for the occasion. The announcement outlined access to training, umpiring support and resources as the Association prepared for its next season.
A six-week Academy, scheduled from 25 July to 29 August at Alexandria Park, was part of that next step. The June newsletter also looked ahead to expanding the league from 12 to 14 teams — plans that would become part of the following season’s welcome for new players.
A Pride Month spent together
Earlier in June, members had volunteered at Fit N’ Proud Pride Fest in Taylor Square before welcoming people to our Open Day at Rushcutters Bay. Skills activities, conversations at the stall and introductions to other LGBTQIA+ sporting groups helped more people discover the Outfielders. Drag Bingo continued that month of connection, with a different setting and just as much community energy.
Thank you to everyone who attended, volunteered and brought friends along, and to Zoe Hyland for photographing the bingo afternoon. The gallery captures the performances, laughter and familiar faces from the day.
