GAME DAY INFORMATION
Your game day essentials all in one place!
PRE & POST GAME
Our games kick off right on 6:30pm, so try to arrive a little early and check in with your captain and teammates. It’s a great chance to catch up, share a laugh, and get your body moving with some stretches, throwing, or batting practice. A proper warm-up not only helps you play your best, it also keeps you feeling strong and injury-free so you can enjoy every game of the season.
After the game, the fun doesn’t stop on the field! If you’re playing at Robertson Road Fields or Upper Kippax, head over to our sponsor, Watson’s EQ—just a short walk away. It’s the perfect place to celebrate a win, share dinner and drinks, and catch up with teammates and other players.
For those playing at Alexandria Park Oval, our post-game home is The Mitch, where Outfielders enjoy discounted food and drinks from a special menu just for us. Wherever you’re playing, there’s always a spot to keep the good times rolling after the final pitch!
TRAVEL INFORMATION
We play across a few different fields in Sydney, and each is easy to get to by public transport or car. Whether you’re coming by light rail, bus, train, metro, or driving, there are plenty of options to make sure you arrive on time and ready to play!
Upper Kippax Field – Moore Park
Upper Kippax is located inside Centennial Parklands. The easiest way to get there is by public transport:
-
Light Rail: Take the L2 or L3 to Moore Park Station – from there, it’s just a short walk.
-
Bus: Several bus routes stop along Anzac Parade, right near Moore Park.
-
Parking: Limited parking is available within Centennial Park, but it can fill up quickly on game nights. Public transport is strongly encouraged.
Robertson Road Fields – Centennial Park
Robertson Road Fields are on the western side of Centennial Park.
-
Light Rail: Hop off at Moore Park Station – it’s about a 10-minute walk across to the fields.
-
Bus: Routes along Oxford Street and Anzac Parade stop close to the park.
-
Parking: There is parking available directly along Robertson Road, right next to the fields.
Alexandria Park Oval – Alexandria
Alexandria Park Oval is just a short distance from Redfern, Erskineville and the new Waterloo Metro.
-
Metro: Waterloo Station (Sydney Metro) is less than a 10-minute walk from the oval.
-
Train: The closest stations are Redfern (15-minute walk) and Erskineville (10-minute walk).
-
Bus: Several routes run along Botany Road and McEvoy Street, only a few minutes’ walk away.
-
Parking: Street parking is available in the surrounding streets, but spaces can be limited – allow extra time if driving.
EQUIPMENT & UNIFORMS
For each game, your team will be supplied with a kit bag stocked with all the essentials – bats, balls, bases, helmets, and gloves – so you’ll always have what you need to play.
That said, most players like to invest in some of their own gear for comfort, fit, and performance. A good starter kit usually includes:
-
Fielding glove (personal fit makes a huge difference)
-
Footwear (players may wish to wear cleats, but they are not required and must not be worn at Alexandria Park Oval)
-
Sunglasses (especially handy for outfield play)
-
Cap (Some teams also sell their own team branded caps!)
Uniforms are also part of the fun! Most teams organise their own throughout the season, so be sure to check in with your captain about the ordering process and how to get kitted out in your team colours.
If you’d like to purchase your own equipment, here are some recommended suppliers in Sydney and online:

COMMUNITY RESOURCES
LGBTQIA+ & Mental Health Support Links
At Sydney Outfielders, we’re more than a softball league—we’re a community. We know that for LGBTQIA+ people, caring for mental health and wellbeing can sometimes feel overwhelming, and it makes a difference to know where to turn for support.
That’s why we’ve gathered this list of trusted services across NSW that offer safe, inclusive, and affirming care. From peer-led groups to counselling and specialist mental health services, these organisations are here to listen, support, and stand alongside you—because no one should ever feel alone.
If you’re going through a tough time, please remember you’re not on your own. Reach out to your teammates, your captain, the committee, or any of the resources below for help and support.
